We&#8217;ve gathered the best extreme drop and torture tests on Youtube to see if the Droid Turbo 2 really is shatterproof&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCe-4xQosMQGkIA8mT4sR98Q\"><strong>CNNMoney<\/strong><\/a> takes it to the streets of New York for some real world dropping simulations, riding over it with a tricycle taxi, and having a horse step on it.  The phone gets dented but doesn&#8217;t crack or shatter.<\/p>\n<p><center><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"850\" height=\"478\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-V2r_9Um2Tw\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/center><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCj34AOIMl_k1fF7hcBkD_dw\"><strong>EverythingApplePro<\/strong><\/a> pits the DT2 against the iPhone 6s in a series of drop tests.  The iPhone ends up cracking on head-high drop.  A 50-foot drop onto concrete doesn&#8217;t shatter the DT2 display but it does break the phone and make it inoperable.<\/p>\n<p><center><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"850\" height=\"478\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/JbQjJxtR2Hw\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/center><\/p>\n<p>This extreme drop test from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCgFpJKyIywUc8arDxhABGPw\"><strong>UnlockRiver<\/strong><\/a> involves dropping the Droid Turbo 2 from a drone 275 meters (900 feet) high.  The DT2 takes some damage to the edge of the screen with some peeling, but it doesn&#8217;t shatter, plus the phone is still working.<\/p>\n<p><center><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"850\" height=\"478\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/fTJOL5ikuZA\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/center><\/p>\n<p>This video from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCWFKCr40YwOZQx8FHU_ZqqQ\"><strong>JerryRigEverything<\/strong><\/a> doesn&#8217;t involve dropping but involves scratching, bending, and burning.  The video points out that competing smartphones with Gorilla Glass screens often have a Mohs scale (scratch resistance) rating of 5-6, while the DT2 is about 2.5.  So the DT2 makes a significant sacrifice in scratch resistance, but the video also points out that the top layer of the display is basically a removable plastic screen that can be easily replaced. It survives an ordinary drop test, dropping a 30 pound metal toolbox on it, driving over it with a 1,881 pound mast lift, and pounding it with a bending tool.  After puncturing the display and phone with a sharp tool, it doesn&#8217;t shatter but the battery starts smoking and burning.<\/p>\n<p><center><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"850\" height=\"478\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/F5-GOxpUoJA\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/center><\/p>\n<p>As you can see the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 really is shatterproof.
